The goal of the lab is to understand how evolution chisels the human brain.

We focus in the impact of patterning events occuring during neurulation, when the neural tube is shaped.

We leverage comparative genomics to identify regulatory elements that control human-specific brain development events and their contribution to neurodevelopmental disorders such as epileptic encephalopathies. 

We use genetic engineering, live-imaging and artificial intelligence tools  in human brain organoids to functionally model these events in health and disease.
